If your name is or ever has been Reilly, then I'm sure you've got your pick of people to stay with but if you're travelling to the wedding and need accommodation, Glasgow has loads of hotels to choose from, from budget to luxury boutiques. However, in the week before Christmas they may be pretty busy so if you need hotel accomodation, you may want to think about booking it pretty soon.
The best place to look (and use the booking search engine) is www.seeglasgow.com. This site also has information on what's on in Glasgow, maps and things to do around the city. If you're staying for a few days, there's certainly a lot to do, particularly the museums and galleries (most of which are free)
The WEST brewery is in the East End of Glasgow on Glasgow Green. While the neighbourhood has its attractions (the park, the People's Palace Museum and of course nearby Celtic Park), we wouldn't necessarily recommend staying nearby and all the best hotels are in the centre of town and the West End. We would recommend that for ease of getting to and from the venue and if you want a base to stay for a few days, then one of the city centre hotels would be perfect.
Budget/Family
Glasgow has a number of budget and family hotel representing the main chains and these can be found on the seeglasgow website. In the first instance you might want to try:
Premier Inn (George Sq closest but also Argyle St and Charing Cross), Holiday Inn Express, Novotel and Park Inn
Upmarket Chains
A number of the more upmarket big chains are in Glasgow. Handiest for town are:
Radisson (very nice, stylish new hotel close to the train station), Marriott, Hilton and Holiday Inn.
Boutique Hotels
As you land at Glasgow airport you'll see the banners proclaiming Glasgow as "Scotland, with Style". Whether you'll agree as you wander through the city remains to be seen (!) but the number of boutique hotels certainly suggests that it's hoteliers at least are taking this mantle seriously. If you're looking for something small and stylish why not try:
One Devonshire Gardens (West End so not in the heart of town but beautiful), The Abode (formerly the Arthouse), St Judes (which also has bar, restaurant and club attached) and Mark's Hotel.
Apartments and Suites
There are apartments and suites available in Glasgow City centre but unfortunately we don' have any contact details but should be pretty to easy to find online.
If you're staying on for a few days then Glasgow is a great base for exploring central Scotland, the west coast and Trossachs and you can find lots more info at www.visitscotland.com
