There will be a DJ helping us fill the floor on the night but being Scottish, we can't pass up the opportunity for a bit of Scottish country dancing - why else would the Scottish education system insist on every spotty teenager learning the Gay Gordons if not to ensure that it's compulsory when we've had a few? We'll post some instructional videos for all of you the non-Scots (Americans, Spaniards, Kiwis and of course the English) so there will be no excuse for sitting down when the music starts.

A quick introduction to the Gay Gordons to get you going ...

My personal favourite.  Will always remind me of trying to sit Maths prelim exams whilst Miss Breslin our PE teacher taught this dance in the adjoining Gym hall! Thirteen year old boys had nightmares about this experience for years but like riding a bike, it never leaves you.  Enjoy!

Strip the Willow

This is not a dance for the faint hearted ... no really, if you have a weak heart please dont dance it!

The clip below is a very tame version of the dance.  I've never been to a Scottish wedding where the line of people is any less than 20 (meaning LOTS of swinging round without a rest) and the swinging is far more vigourous han shown here so ladies, you might want to remove your heels.  However, this is an easy and fun dance and the video gives you the basic idea of how sober people might do it.
